IMANI'S MOON REVIEW
Imani's Moon by JaNay Brown-Wood, is a beautiful inspiring story about a girl named Imani and, and her desire to do something many in her village thought was impossible (touch the moon). She was constantly teased and made to feel inferior because of her size (she was the smallest child in her village).
There is a an ode to the bond between mother and daughter, as Imani's mother plays a key role in raising her daughter's self-esteem, while also nurturing her imagination. The story teaches children the value of determination, belief in oneself and to never give up, no matter how many times you fall.
